For my mother’s birthday, we decided to go all out and dine at L’escale Restaurant in Greenwich, CT at the Delamar Harbor.  We are always looking for French food and it’s really hard to find a place that delivers on our expectations.  #1 – I’m born on Bastille Day, so we always go out for French cuisine.  #2 – It’s my mother’s favorite.  And #3 – we have family friends who are French and make fantastic food!

We had a lovely evening at L’escale.  The service was impeccable and the best part… so was the food!  It was September, so we were even able to sit outside and enjoy the harbor.

L’escale, which means “port of call”, is a restaurant seemingly lifted from glorious Provence and brought back to Earth on the waterfront of Greenwich, CT. L’escale serves an inventive Provençal menu in an atmosphere that captures the warm sun, sea breezes & evocative scents of Southern France.

Now for dinner…

Every single thing was perfect.  Ever app, every entree, every dessert.  And we tried a LOT of things!  Usually, we have some issues deciding where to go because who doesn’t eat what.  Generally, my family is not willing to try things that are out of their comfort zone.  But everything on the menu was to our liking, so every one was happy.

Raw Clams & Oysters … you can ALMOST never go wrong 🙂

One thing that Jeff and I noticed is that they have a really fabulous wine list.  They have a very extensive variety of wines that range from every part of the world and for a great range of prices.  Our assumption was that we weren’t going to find any affordable bottles, but we totally were!  I mean, when you’re going to a fancy dinner, you expect to pay outrageous prices for wines.  But we were beyond thrilled to find such an great wine list!  Well done.
