Gentlemen … this is how you do Valentine’s Day at home. Yea, going out for dinner is great and all, but sometimes (especially when it’s someone extra special), it’s nicer to be home. Restaurants get really crowded for Valentine’s Day and 9 times out of 10, it’s totally overpriced.
Simply follow these 3 steps for the perfect Valentine’s Day she’ll never forget.
Step 1: Buy her a dozen long stemmed red roses.
Step 2: Cook dinner.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- About 1/2 pound Filet Mignon in two pieces
- 1 pound of cleaned shrimp (deveined & peeled, then washed & dried)
- Chipotle seasoning
- Cayenne pepper sauce
- Teriyaki sauce
- Montreal seasoning
- Shaved brussels sprouts & kale (you can buy them shaved or shave your own with a mandolin slicer)
- Olive oil
- Salt & pepper
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Marinate the steak by drizzling the steak with teriyaki sauce and season with Montreal seasoning. Put aside.
Lay the shaved brussels sprouts & kale out on a baking sheet. Cover with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Put in the oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown/browned. Even though some pieces will turn slightly brown, they are DELICIOUS that way. Crispy & light…
Next, put the steak on the grill for about 4-5 minutes a side. Remove from the heat and set aside somewhere warm for the meat to rest. While the meat rests, place the shrimp in a non-stick pan with a drop of olive oil and season with chipotle seasoning and a light drizzle of cayenne pepper sauce. Let cook until they’ve turned pink on both sides.
Serve the shrimp on top of a little guacamole (optional).
Step 3: Pop the bubbly. If you really want to impress her, buy a nice Prosecco OR… Veuve Clicquot.
