Brunch is quite a treat at Oak + Almond!  And we were lucky enough to see for ourselves last Sunday as we joined our fellow foodies at a long table in the center of the dining room, hungry and ready for some farm-to-table deliciousness.

Oak + Almond, formerly known as Tuscan Oven, is a fabulous farm-to-table style restaurant in Norwalk.  Why the name “Oak + Almond”?  Oak and almond woods fuel the wood burning oven and stove.  The hardwoods are at the heart of the restaurant’s philosophy.

Their philosophy is simple: provide delicious handcrafted food, created with well sourced seasonal ingredients with a focus on hearth & flame. They source the best artesian ingredients and prepare them simply with respect.  And the wine list highlights biodynamic and organic selections, which compliment the simple integrity of the menu.

You can check out their list of farms & purveyors here.  We love supporting our local CT farmers!

To start the meal off right, I ordered a Bloody Mary and Jeff ordered a Mimosa.

Because every brunch should start off with one of these…

Then, we were served a selection of the brunch appetizers.  Every single thing we put into our mouth was absolutely delicious.  Particularly, we loved the Funghi Flatbread and the Charred Octopus.  We also really loved the Pork & Ricotta Meatballs – the red sauce was so fresh tasting and delicious.

As the main course, we each ordered something from the very extensive menu.  Jeff and I probably went back & forth with our decisions at least 4 times.  I decided to go with the B.E.C. and Jeff couldn’t resist the Chittara Carbonara.

The decor inside Oak + Almond is truly beautiful.  Rustic, minimalist, but warm.  The dark wood and open kitchen nods to the comfort of the food, but with a modern twist.

As the food coma was starting to set in, out came the dessert.  I was totally over the moon about the Olive Oil Gelato (obviously).  And for Jeff… the chocolate chip cookie (the usual cookie monster).

And to top it all off, with a glass of Brachetto D’ Acqui (Banfi 2010, Piedmont)

Overall, our experience at Oak + Almond was fantastic.  We absolutely loved the food, the drinks, and the atmosphere.  Without a doubt we’ll be back to Oak + Almond to enjoy more farm-to-table delicious food.

Oh… and by the way, on our way out we walked by their great bar area, which is conveniently separated from the dining room.  The bar was gorgeous and inviting.  So again, we can’t wait to get back!
