This past Saturday, we hosted brunch with some of our friends at our house.  As always, there was WAY too much food 🙂  But that’s why it’s so great.

I love brunch.   Although it’s very rare that I actually indulge in brunch, I just love it.  I had a blast thinking about the menu, setting up a “make your own” mimosa bar, and making mini Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwiches.  But I wanted to change up the fruit selection a bit, so I made one of my favorite staples – boozy berries and some fresh whipped cream. This recipe is great for brunch, but also great for a light dessert after a big meal.

  • 1 large package of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, or a mix of all berries
  • 2 shots triple sec
  • 1 shot silver tequila
  • 1 pint of heavy whipping cream
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons of sugar (depending on how sweet you prefer)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Wash, dry, and cut your berries.  To marinate them, put in a bowl and pour the triple sec and tequila over them.  Stir thoroughly.  Cover and let sit in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.

Now it’s time to make the fresh whipped cream.  In the metal bowl (either a kitchen aid mixer or a hand-mixer will do), pour in the heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla and mix on high for about 2-3 minutes until it reaches a fluffy consistency.  Remove and put aside.  I like to put it in a pretty bowl so people can also use it in coffee, over french toast, etc.

To serve, place a big spoonful of berries in a small cup and drop a large dollop of fresh whipped cream over the berries.  And serve!  Easy, right?
