Shelton, CT.  The town where Jeff and I both grew up, the town we met in, the town our family still lives in…

Shelton really has come a long way since we grew up there.  I have to say, Shelton has a few good spots.  One new spot that I’ve been wanting to check out is Center Street Social.  I’ve been hearing lots about their Sunday brunch with bottomless Mimosas & Bloody Marys for $15.  Sounds pretty good to me!

I finally got a chance to visit for Sunday brunch with a few good friends.  I must say, it was pretty good!  Nothing too fancy or crazy, just good.  The menu was good, the food was good, the service was good, the bloodies were good.

We decided to try the maple & bacon pancakes to start – just as a little breakfast appetizer.  The pancakes were so incredibly flavorful and the bacon bits on top were crispy and cooked to perfection.  The maple syrup was fresh from Vermont and just delicious.  I give this a 2 thumbs up!  I’d go back just for those.

Then we ordered our own breakfasts.  I decided to go with the spinach and feta omelet.  I don’t eat too many eggs anymore and after a crazy Sunday morning Zumba class, I needed some protein to fuel my day.  It was good.  Not amazing, but good.  I didn’t taste much feta at all, but there was a lot of spinach (which I like).  My only big complaint was that because the tomatoes are fresh and not cooked, the are very watery and makes the omelet pretty water too.  The home fries were yummy too – they reminded me of college days.

The crossiantwich was a hit.  Made with two fried eggs, honey maple ham, cheddar cheese, home fries on a buttered croissant, how could you go wrong?

Finally, the lobster benedict – a toasted english muffin topped with fresh lobster and hollandaise sauce, served with home fries.  Wow!  Lots of meaty lobster … they didn’t skimp one bit.  Another hit.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Center Street Social and I absolutely recommend you check it out!
