As you all know, Red Zinfandel is hands down our favorite variety of wine.  We like big bold flavors that tend to be on the heavy side.  Don’t get us wrong, we like lighter wines too, but there’s nothing better than sitting down with a big glass of big bold red zin (or some type of blend). While perusing our new favorite store on earth, Total Wines & More in Norwalk, CT, we noticed a new bottle that we hadn’t yet tried.  And that’s ArtiZin Zinfandel. <a href="https://i1.wp.com/ see here now.jpeg” rel=”prettyPhoto”> Grapes: Blend of grapes from Amador, Mendocino Counties,

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of trying The Prisoner for the first time.  We decanted the bottle for about a half hour or so and dove right in!  And it was a mind blowing experience … The Prisoner is a California blend of not only Zinfandel, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Charbono, and Grenache.  So pretty much all our favorite grape varieties! We’ve been very into the red blends lately, so we got really excited about this one.  We can’t wait to have it again. Dave Phinney launched the wine in 2003.  Inspired and created by the drinkable

2007 Costasera Amarone Classico

To celebrate our 1 year engagement anniversary, we popped a special bottle of 2007 Masi Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella.  Amarone is another wine that I learned a lot about not only in Italy, but through a crazy group of guys I used to work with.  What do you need to know about Amarone?  It’s pretty simple … it’s a damn good, expensive Italian red wine. Just kidding, of course! There’s a lot more to know about Amarone.  It is made from the partially dried grapes of the Corvina (40% – 70%), Rondinella (20% – 40%) and Molinara (5% – 25%) varieties.  Originally

Saltwater Farm Vineyard – Stonington

Last week we stopped by Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, CT on our way to visit our friends in Massachusetts.  We had never tried the wines there, so we were excited to check it out! The place itself is very impressive.  It has a gorgeous interior that’s very modern and sophisticated.  Makes for a great venue 😉 Upon walking in, you are greeted with a plethora of bottles that line the walls and a cozy fireplace.  It was a cold day, so the fireplace was certainly inviting! There were three varieties of wines available that day and were very limited

Wine Spotlight: Quinta de Bons-Ventos

Last week, we brought this awesome bottle of Portugese red wine over to Jeff’s parents house to enjoy with the delicious dinner Kathy cooked for us.  We loved it so much that we wanted to share it with you. Plus, we’re so excited to be planning our honeymoon next year to Portugal!  We’re looking forward to visiting all the great vineyards and tasting the wines. Quinta de Bons-Ventos As for flavor, it has a lot of dark fruit flavor and a tad spicy.  On a scale from light to full-bodied, it’s right in the middle.  It’s light, but still has
