Brunch @ Washington Prime

After our last visit to Washington Prime in South Norwalk, CT for dinner, we’ve been back quite a bit.  This is the finest of compliments because, hey, there’s just so many good places around to choose from! Last Sunday, we got together with our fellow bloggers and enjoyed a delicious brunch at Washington Prime.  They have a new buffet style brunch which honestly is a great format for brunch.  Some people (like me) like a breakfasty brunch and some people prefer more lunch brunch.  So this way, everyone is happy and can taste a bit of everything. And with the

Clarke Culinary Center with Chef Pietro Scotti

A few weeks ago, we had the absolute pleasure of attending a culinary class at the Clarke Showroom in South Norwalk, CT.  We were completely blown away!!  Between the facility, the chef, the wine… and, of course… the food, we truly enjoyed the whole experience. The Clarke Culinary Center is nestled inside the inspiring showrooms of Clarke, New England’s exclusive distributor for high-performance appliances from Sub-Zero, Wolf and Asko. For years, showroom visitors asked Clarke to offer cooking classes due to its depth of knowledge about culinary arts. In 2009, Clarke tested a short series of cooking classes with local

Brunch @ Oak + Almond

Brunch is quite a treat at Oak + Almond!  And we were lucky enough to see for ourselves last Sunday as we joined our fellow foodies at a long table in the center of the dining room, hungry and ready for some farm-to-table deliciousness. Oak + Almond, formerly known as Tuscan Oven, is a fabulous farm-to-table style restaurant in Norwalk.  Why the name “Oak + Almond”?  Oak and almond woods fuel the wood burning oven and stove.  The hardwoods are at the heart of the restaurant’s philosophy. Their philosophy is simple: provide delicious handcrafted food, created with well sourced seasonal ingredients with

Aladin Indian Bistro – Norwalk

Now that it’s getting cold outside, going out can often be less attractive.  One of our favorite things to do on a cold Friday night is to get take-out.  More often than not, that means one thing….Indian food!  Now I know some people are a bit gun shy when it comes to Indian.  It can be the heat, or just unfamiliar flavors.  Granted, it can be a bit intimidating when ordering Indian or any cuisine you are not used to eating. Recently, I had the opportunity to dine in and experience Aladin Indian Bistro in Norwalk.  The atmosphere is gorgeous

Bar Sugo – Norwalk, CT

Our new favorite happy hour spot… BAR SUGO in Norwalk, CT.  And it’s not because it’s walking distance from us!  It’s because it’s a great place to get some fabulous Italian small plates (called “cichetti”), wine, and cocktails.  The staff are super nice and the service is fabulous … and how often do we get to say that!? A few weeks ago, we decided to enjoy a gorgeous Friday sitting at a high-top at Bar Sugo. Because the front doors were lifted, the open air also made for a really great afternoon out.  We were starving, so it’s really hard

NOLA: Bringing the Big Easy to SoNo

There are few cuisines that are under-represented in Fairfield County.  One of these is Cajun food made famous in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.  A blend of French, Caribbean and other European and African elements, Cajun cuisine is as warm and comforting as the area where it hails from.  As you can imagine, we were thrilled to hear that a New Orleans inspired restaurant opened recently in South Norwalk.  Cristina and I had a unique opportunity to get a chance to try quite of the few items that the chef, Dan Kardos has created that blend classic Cajun dishes

The Beach Burger – Norwalk, CT

BEACH BURGER IS NOW CLOSED The Beach Burger, located in Norwalk, CT is the newest addition to our recommended “hot spots” in Fairfield County.  Looking for an easy place to get some good grub?  Then this is the place.  Burgers, salads, sandwiches, and shakes are their specialty.  The owner of Mr. Frosty’s Ice Cream (located right next door) teamed up with Food Network celeb Chef Marc Anthony Bynum to create The Beach Burger in 2011.  The burgers are made with 100% all natural grass-fed beef… and it’s delicious.  Don’t eat meat?  No worries.  They have turkey burgers, falafel burgers, fish and chips and

BJ Ryan’s B*AN*C House

Looking for a fun spot to check out this weekend?  We recommend BJ Ryan’s BANC House.  What is a “BANC” house you ask?  Good question.  It actually stands for BBQ an’ Crab.  Located walking distance from our apartment building in Norwalk, CT, it’s a great spot for us to take a walk over & have some good southern food/drinks. We’ve tried a few things so far at at Banc House… here’s what we recommend: -Vegetable Stack Salad -Buffalo Wings -Sweet Potato Fries -Crispy Southern Fried Chicken with Honey Mustard (DELICIOUS!) -Pulled Chicken -Pulled Pork -BOURBON ROOT BEER FLOAT (yes, Jeff
